In the Highlands of Scotland, you will find Loch Ness, home of the mythical Nessie – also known as the Loch Ness Monster. The lock is the second largest in Scotland by surface area but biggest by volume due to its depth.
The area had the first hydroelectric power station, created for the local aluminium plant. Served by the loch’s water, the plant now supplies the National Grid.
You can fish in the loch for many species, enjoy lovely walks in the region or check out the two lighthouses that are nearby.
The monster myth first came about in 1933 which continues to this day with the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition at Drumnadrochit dedicated to the story of the monster.
Many people come to the loch to take boat tours in search of the Nessie. This tourist trade has led to many cafes and restaurants appearing near the loch, such as The Boathouse Lochside Restaurant.
If you wish to get out of Loch Ness to visit nearby villages like Balnain or just to take in the amazing countryside, our minibus or coach hire can take you there.
There are some great places to visit in Loch Ness such as Cherry Island, Caledonian Canal and Fort Augustus. If you have time to visit some more of the sites around loch ness we here at Scotland Coach Company recommend…
Urquhart Castle
Seen as a romantic ruin, this castle is one of the largest in Scotland. It is located on Strone Point at the edge of Loch Ness. The promontory it sits on offers striking cliffs that made its strategic location ideal with the cliffs keeping enemies out.
The ruins still have well-preserved curtain walls and larger structures to the north. We can easily imagine where the service buildings would have been, along with the bountiful orchards and pretty gardens.
If you would like to step back in time while in Loch Ness, this is the place to visit.
Loch Ness is well worth exploring and you may even solve the mystery of Nessie. To explore further and see places like Carrbridge, Inverness or Tomich, our minibus and coach hire can take you away.

We were very pleased with the service we received. Our home is not easy to find but the driver had left plenty of time to follow our instructions when he phoned for help. He was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely use and recommend this company again especially for groups of 6 and above.

My family were going out to Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. The price was fantastic to take 10 of us out including multiple pick up and drop offs. The driver Atif was extremely pleasant, prompt and accommodating. Highly recommend and will definitely use them again. Kind Regards, Stephanie International Business Manager.
