Scottish Maritime Museum
This museum has two sites with one in Irvine. The other is in Dumbarton. Down at Irvine harbour in a listed lighthouse building you will find a wonderful treasure trove of maritime finds and seafaring vessels.
The engineering shop now houses some wonders that have pride of place on the National Historic Ships UK register. These are vessels built by local craftsmen and artisans in places such as Paisley and Clyde.
And if ships do not do it for you, there is a large collection of important marine-relevant art on display.
